See The Underbase Work

Same Art. Same Shirt.
One Difference.

Drag the slider. On the left, CMYK printed straight onto a black garment — the fibers drink the ink and the colors go muddy. On the right, the exact same art over a P1690 White underbase: the white blocks the garment, and every color sits on top at full strength.

That layer is invisible in the finished print and it decides everything — brightness, opacity, and how the transfer survives 90+ commercial washes. It is why white outsells every color on this site.

Inside The Bottle

What P1690 White
Is Built To Do

Job 01 — Block

Opacity On Demand

A high-opacity pigment load hides the garment color in a single pass, so a red tee, a navy hoodie, and a black jersey all print like white paper underneath.

Job 02 — Carry

Hold Colors Bright

CMYK, Orange, and Green land on the white layer instead of the fibers — the way P1690 prints on press, white first, is the way the transfer stays vivid for its whole life.

Job 03 — Flex

Stretch, Not Crack

Cured and pressed to spec, the underbase flexes with cotton, polyester, and blends through 90+ commercial wash cycles instead of cracking away from them.

White Ink, Happy Printer

Keep White Flowing

Gently agitate — never shake hard

Roll or gently agitate the bottle before loading so pigment is evenly suspended. Violent shaking whips air into the ink, and bubbles are the enemy of clean white jetting.

Load it and let the printer take over from there — P1690 is formulated for the white-ink recirculation systems built into modern DTF printers.

Let recirculation do its job

Keep the printer powered so recirculation runs — that constant motion is what keeps white in suspension between jobs. Run your manufacturer’s nozzle check at the start of each press day.

Dependable recirculation behavior is a core P1690 trait: it is engineered to keep moving so you are printing, not purging.

Sealed, room temperature, rotated

Store sealed bottles at room temperature, out of direct sun, and rotate by lot code — oldest liter loads first. The lot printed on every label makes first-in, first-out effortless.

White burns faster than any color, so put it on a standing order before the shelf runs thin — volume programs cover 10L and 200L for production floors.

White DTF Ink, Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

White DTF ink is the underbase — the opaque layer printed behind your colors so they stay bright on black and dark garments. Without it, CMYK sinks into the fabric and reads muddy. Artistri® P1690 is DuPont’s high-opacity white engineered specifically for the P1600 direct-to-film platform.
Because nearly every design gets one: the printer lays white behind the full artwork on any dark garment, so a typical job consumes more white than any single color. Most DTF floors reorder P1690 White at a multiple of their color rate — which is why we recommend stocking it deep.
Gently agitate P1690 before loading, then let your printer’s white-ink recirculation handle day-to-day suspension — P1690 is formulated for dependable recirculation behavior. Avoid violent shaking, which can introduce air.
Artistri® P1690 is optimized for the Epson I3200 and also runs on DX4, DX5, and DX7 printheads — the same compatibility as the rest of the P1600 series, so one platform covers your whole ink set.
Transfers built on a P1690 underbase are rated for 90+ commercial wash cycles on cotton, polyester, and blends when cured and pressed to spec — the white stretches with the fabric instead of cracking away from it.
